NOVA

Nova is the most personal song and episode of the Awakening Saga yet. It is the first time that we enter Maero's heart, that we understand who he is, and why.

The song had a dual origin story, which mirrors the duality inside Maero. At first, it was meant to be the 12th song in the album, as it felt like it fully encompassed the range of emotions and events that took place throughout the album. But when I realized the Awakening Saga needed a backstory, it was clear Nova would be the song to carry it.

Searching for Maero's backstory was one of the most meaningful writing moments of the entire Saga. Deep down, I knew Maero's heart, and I knew that his shining blue energy, the Anemos, was to play a key role.

After refining it with my co-writer Matthew Lucas, I couldn't be prouder of what it became. In just a few minutes, it ties Maero's childhood, the Anemos, Deimos, Lyu and more.

It is the birth of an entire Saga in one, explosive song.

And that's why I called it - Nova.
